Understanding Grief - Losing a Loved One

Losing someone you love causes a shift in your being. Someone significant to us dies and we can become overcome with grief. It is one of the most profound personal experiences we share, but all too often, fear and lack of understanding hinders our healthy process of mourning and the easing of the pain grief brings.

Join VR host Vivian Chazen for an interactive and intimate discussion on how to understand many aspects of loss and grief, with special guest Howard Lunche, MSW, LCSW. Howard has dedicated his life to help others understand this painful experience. He does not promote “closure”, “moving on”, “getting over it”, all of which he feels have become code words for acting as if you are not affected. Instead, he promotes understanding the complex experience of grief and the process of healthy mourning, resulting in acceptance of the current reality.

Share your stories. Ask questions. Begin the new year, with a new understanding of grief.

About Howard Lunche: Howard Lunche is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. He worked several years as an oncology and hospice social worker, and hospice bereavement program coordinator. In his 20-year psychotherapy practice he has specialized in loss and grief.
