“How is this game played?” I’m asked by first-timers. I used to say it’s not a game, it’s life, in a shared 3D metaverse. Now I say AltspaceVR is a social game. The goals are to make lots of friends, have fun (and maybe learn something), and make our shared metaverse a better place. Questions: How is ASVR already like a game? What could be added to make it more game-like? Is that a good idea? Within current ASVR constraints & resources, what kind of games are already possible? If ASVR is like Life, is Life is a game? Ponder these and other questions in Mario World floating above Nintendo’s Kyoto, Japan, headquarters! Our informal online meetup is unaffiliated with next week’s 2021 Game Developers Conference, which we hope you’ll attend.
